ABY 1B: Unit 12 Conversation 1

Assalamu’alaikum, everyone! Today, we're going to have a fun English lesson using a conversation from a very helpful book called Al-Arabiya Baina Yadaik, specifically Book 1B, Unit 12, Conversation 1. This book is a great way to learn Arabic, and we're going to use one of its conversations to practice our English. We are learning English here together at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizhul Quran At-Taqwa Sukoharjo, and I'm excited to explore this new material with you all!

CONVERSATION 1 – Unit 12 (ABY 1B)

شَاكِرٌ: مَا هِوَايَتُكَ يَا شَرِيفُ؟

Shakir: مَا (What) | هِوَايَتُكَ (your hobby - masculine) | يَا (O) | شَرِيفُ (Shareef) | ؟ (question mark)

Shakir: What is your hobby, Shareef?

عامية: شَاكِر: إِيهْ هِوَايِتَكْ يَا شَرِيف؟

شَرِيفٌ: هِوَايَاتِي كَثِيرَةٌ: الْقِرَاءَةُ، وَالسَّفَرُ، وَالْمُرَاسَلَةُ.

Shareef: هِوَايَاتِي (My hobbies) | كَثِيرَةٌ (are many) | : (colon) | الْقِرَاءَةُ (reading) | ، (comma) | وَ (and) | السَّفَرُ (traveling) | ، (comma) | وَ (and) | الْمُرَاسَلَةُ (correspondence/writing letters) | . (period)

Shareef: My hobbies are many: reading, traveling, and writing letters.

Shareef: Yes, I have a big library.
