CONVERSATION 2 (ABY 1B – UNIT 13)

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ. The traveler: Peace be upon you.

اَلْمُسَافِر: اَلسَّلَام عَلَيْكُم.

اَلضَّابِطُ: وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامُ. أَهْلاً وَسَهْلاً. جَوَازُ السَّفَرِ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.

The officer: And upon you be peace. Welcome. Your passport, please.

اَلضَّابِط: وَعَلَيْكُم السَّلَام. أَهْلًا وَسَهْلًا. جَوَاز السَّفَر لَوْ سَمَحْت.

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: هَذَا هُوَ جَوَازُ السَّفَرِ.

The traveler: This is the passport.

اَلْمُسَافِر: أَهُو جَوَاز السَّفَر أَهُو.

اَلضَّابِطُ: هَلْ أَنْتَ مَالِيزِيٌّ؟

The officer: Are you Malaysian?

اَلضَّابِط: إِنتَ مَالِيزِي؟

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: لَا، أَنَا كَشْمِيرِيٌّ.

The traveler: No, I am Kashmiri.

اَلْمُسَافِر: لَأ، أَنَا كَشْمِيرِي.

اَلضَّابِطُ: هَلْ أَنْتَ قَادِمٌ لِلْعَمَلِ؟

The officer: Are you coming for work?

اَلضَّابِط: إِنتَ جَايّ لِلشُّغْل؟

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: لَا، أَنَا قَادِمٌ لِلزِّيَارَةِ وَالْعُمْرَةِ.

The traveler: No, I am coming for a visit and Umrah (minor pilgrimage).

اَلْمُسَافِر: لَأ، أَنَا جَايّ لِلزِّيَارَة وَالْعُمْرَة.

اَلضَّابِطُ: كَمْ يَوْماً سَتُقِيمُ هُنَا؟

The officer: How many days will you stay here?

اَلضَّابِط: هَاتِقْعُد كَمْ يُوم هِنَا؟

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: ثَلَاثَةَ أَسَابِيعَ تَقْرِيباً.

The traveler: Approximately three weeks.

اَلْمُسَافِر: تَلَات أَسَابِيع تَقْرِيباً.

اَلضَّابِطُ: أَيْنَ سَتُقِيمُ؟

The officer: Where will you stay?

اَلضَّابِط: هَاتِسْكُن فِين؟

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: سَأُقِيمُ فِي فُنْدُقٍ قَرِيبٍ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ.

The traveler: I will stay in a hotel near the Holy Mosque (Masjid al-Haram).

اَلْمُسَافِر: هَاقْعُد فِي فُنْدُق قَرِيب مِن الْمَسْجِد الْحَرَام.

اَلضَّابِطُ: إِقَامَةً طَيِّبَةً، وَعُمْرَةً مَقْبُولَةً، إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ.

The officer: Have a good stay, and may your Umrah be accepted, if God wills.

اَلضَّابِط: إِقَامَة طَيِّبَة، وَعُمْرَة مَقْبُولَة، إِن شَاء اللَّه.

اَلْمُسَافِرُ: جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْراً.

The traveler: May Allah reward you with goodness.

اَلْمُسَافِر: جَزَاكَ اللَّه خَيْر.
