Assalamu’alaikum, everyone! Today, we’re going to have a fun English lesson using a conversation from a very helpful book called Al-Arabiya Baina Yadaik (ABY) 1B, Unit 12, Conversation 2. This book is a great way to learn Arabic, and we’re going to use one of its conversations to practice our English. We are learning English here together at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizhul Quran At-Taqwa Sukoharjo, and I’m excited to explore this new material with you all!

شِهَاب: هَلْ زُرْتَ مَعْرِضَ الْهِوَايَاتِ؟ Shihab: Have you visited the hobbies exhibition?

شِهَاب: إِنْتَ زُرْتَ مَعْرَضَ الْهِوَايَاتِ؟

شُعَيْب: لَا، مَا زُرْتُهُ. هَيَّا بِنَا إِلَيْهِ.

Shu‘aib: No, I haven't visited it. Let's go to it.

شُعَيْب: لَأْ، مَا زُرْتُوشْ. يَلَّا بِينَا عَلَيْهِ.

شِهَاب: هَذَا هُوَ مَعْرِضُ الْهِوَايَاتِ.

Shihab: This is the hobbies exhibition.

شِهَاب: دَهْ هُوَ مَعْرِضُ الْهِوَايَاتِ.

==========

شُعَيْب: هَذِهِ هِوَايَاتٌ كَثِيرَةٌ جِدًّا.

Shu‘aib: These are very many hobbies.

شُعَيْب: دِي هِوَايَاتْ كِتِيرَةْ أَوِي.

شِهَاب: هَذَا جَنَاحُ جَمْعِ الطَّوَابِعِ.

Shihab: This is the stamp collecting section.

شِهَاب: دَهْ جِنَاحُ جَمْعِ الطَّوَابِعِ.

شُعَيْب: هَذِهِ طَوَابِعُ جَمِيلَةٌ. هَذَا طَابِعٌ هِنْدِيٌّ، وَهَذَا طَابِعٌ فَرَنْسِيٌّ.

Shu‘aib: These are beautiful stamps. This is an Indian stamp, and this is a French stamp.

شُعَيْب: دِي طَوَابِعْ حِلْوَةْ. دَهْ طَابِعْ هِنْدِي، وَدَهْ طَابِعْ فَرَنْسَاوِي.

شِهَاب: وَهَذَا جَنَاحُ الْخَطِّ الْعَرَبِيِّ.

Shihab: And this is the Arabic calligraphy section.

شِهَاب: وَدَهْ جِنَاحُ الْخَطِّ الْعَرَبِي.

شُعَيْب: هَذِهِ كَلِمَاتٌ بِخَطِّ النَّسْخِ، وَتِلْكَ كَلِمَاتٌ بِخَطِّ الرُّقْعَةِ.

Shu‘aib: These are words in Naskh script, and those are words in Ruq'ah script.

شُعَيْب: دِي كَلِمَاتْ بِخَطِّ النَّسْخِ، وَدِيكْ كَلِمَاتْ بِخَطِّ الرُّقْعَةِ.

شِهَاب: وَهَذَا جَنَاحُ الصِّحَافَةِ.

Shihab: And this is the journalism section.

شِهَاب: وَدَهْ جِنَاحُ الصِّحَافَةِ.

شُعَيْب: هَذِهِ صُحُفٌ بِجَمِيعِ اللُّغَاتِ.

Shu‘aib: These are newspapers in all languages.

شُعَيْب: دِي جَرَايِدْ بِكُلِّ اللُّغَاتِ.

شِهَاب: وَهَذَا جَنَاحُ التَّدْبِيرِ الْمَنْزِلِيِّ.

Shihab: And this is the home management section.

شِهَاب: وَدَهْ جِنَاحُ التَّدْبِيرِ الْمَنْزِلِي.

شُعَيْب: هَذَا طَعَامٌ صِينِيٌّ، وَهَذَا طَعَامٌ عَرَبِيٌّ.

Shu‘aib: This is Chinese food, and this is Arabic food.

شُعَيْب: دَهْ أَكْلْ صِينِي، وَدَهْ أَكْلْ عرَبِي.

شِهَاب: وَهَذَا جَنَاحُ الرِّيَاضَةِ.

Shihab: And this is the sports section.

شِهَاب: وَدَهْ جِنَاحُ الرِّيَاضَةِ.

شُعَيْب: كُرَةُ الْقَدَمِ، وَالسِّبَاحَةُ، وَالْفُرُوسِيَّةُ.

Shu‘aib: Football, swimming, and equestrianism.

شُعَيْب: كُورَةُ الْقَدَمِ، وَالسِّبَاحَةُ، وَالْفُرُوسِيَّةُ.
