Arabiya Baina Yadaik 1B: School Clubs

This lesson (School Clubs) is designed for students at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizhul Quran At-Taqwa Sukoharjo who are learning Arabic and English through parallel dialogues. The conversation below introduces vocabulary and sentence structures related to school clubs and preferences. Students will find it easier to understand and memorize expressions when they are presented with the Arabic text, English translation, and a simplified Arabic colloquial (‘Amiyyah) version. This dialogue is sourced from Al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk, Volume 1B — a widely used book in modern Arabic instruction.

TEACHER’S NOTE

A successful teacher can communicate with his students more through what he says in words, through the tone of voice, and the expressions that appear on his face, as well as gestures. All of these help in conveying the intended goal and achieving the desired participation.

Also, clear guidance with a smile and kindness helps achieve this. Students accept it when they feel satisfied, accepted, and calm. Students need to feel loved by their teachers, and this love becomes a source of motivation for them, and a source for interaction and participation in discussion, (End of quote from Arabiya Baina Yadaik 1’s Teacher’s Book).

BEFORE THE CONVERSATION

The third dialogue continues by presenting other types of hobbies, and mentions a group of activity clubs. The dialogue here comes in the feminine form. Give students more practice on forming questions and answers, and on phonetic phenomena that they find difficult to perform.

Continue practicing aloud and try role-playing the dialogue with your classmates to build confidence and mastery. We encourage students to review vocabulary regularly and revisit this dialogue to deepen their understanding of Arabic and English together. Wallahua’lam
